Location of the Basilica of San Petronio
The Basilica of San Petronio is located in Piazza Maggiore, 40124, Bologna, BO.
There is a special entrance to the Basilica for people with disabilities, a side entrance from Via de’ Pignattari equipped with a ramp.
How to get there
You can reach the Basilica of San Petronio by public transport or on foot.
Public transport lines A, C, 29, 11 and 27 provide convenient connections to the centre of Bologna. The stops are just a few metres from the Basilica.

Bologna’s historical centre is easy to visit on foot. The Basilica awaits you in Piazza Maggiore.
Rules
Both men and women will only be admitted if they are dressed appropriately for the place of worship:
Clothing such as tank tops, short skirts, transparent dresses and low-cut necklines cannot be worn, since it is important to cover your shoulders and knees.
No caps or hats may be worn inside the Basilica. They must be removed before entering inside.
It is not permitted to enter with suitcases and luggage.
Phone and video calls are not permitted.
Food, drinks and glass bottles are not permitted inside.
Animals are not allowed.
We would like to inform visitors that following the completion of restoration work, the viewing terrace has been permanently closed.

Chapel of Re Magi (Three Kings) opening hours
The paid tour inside the Basilica of San Petronio includes the Chapel of Re Magi (Bolognini), the Chapel of San Sebastiano and the Chapel of San Vincenzo Ferrer.
Booking is not required for groups of less than 15 people, but it is necessary for groups of 15 or more.
Monday to Sunday
